Protein trend pushes whey powder prices to record levels

Prices for food-grade whey powder have risen to approximately €1,700 per tonne, the highest level on record. Since the start of the year, prices have increased by more than 50%, according to DCA Market Intelligence data (2026). This development highlights a broader shift in the dairy market, where protein components are gaining value.
