US meat industry is once again the subject of political debate

The US Meat industry is once again the subject of political debate. Democratic lawmakers are preparing legislation that could force major US meatpacking companies to restructure in an effort to curb r record-high beef prices. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is expected to introduce a bill that would prevent companies from processing more than one category of meat. This could require large processors to spin off their beef operations.
