Following the piglet crisis

The European piglet industry is currently experiencing a worsening financial crisis. The DCA EU-5 Piglet Price Index dropped €2.24, settling at €32.94 per piglet. Producer margins are under pressure as slaughterhouse pig prices continue to decline. As breeders deal with unpaid invoices that are taking longer to clear, they are keeping a close check on financial flow throughout the supply chain.
